The marriage of Prince Victor Vera-Haspaat and Princerina Carmela Klief Von Arthor was announced on August 24, 1878 and was intended to be the uniting union for the eventual joining of Veravania and Deutshceslavania. Veravania had existed as a Kingdom since 1054 and its people as a tribe since 465 A.D. The movement of Edgar Tommie into Platterveravania in 984 and establishment of Tomcovy in 990 introduced the Veravanian tribe to the ideas of monarchy and led to the incorporation of the Vera Tribe into a Kingdom. Tommie had taken a bride from the Vera Tribe and established the Tomcovy, or Tommenche, line. Veravania had been divided into two geographic regions, Veravania and Platterveravania. Platterveravania was entrusted to the Tommies for administration. The eventual death of Tommie led to the War of Tommenche Succession. In the end, Veravania lost all its land north of the Vera mountains. Johann Tommie declared himself the first monarch and waged a series of wars against Veravanian Nationals the remained behind. By 1124, these Nationals had been absorbed into the population and Veravania retreated to the northern lands.
Hostilities between the two nations had existed for centuries until 1875, when Crown Prince Victor Vera-Haspaat visited Tomcovy on a state visit. The beauty of the Princerina Carmela Klief Von Arthor took Prince Victor. The title of Princerina refers to a Princess that normally remains single until she can be arranged in marriage for political alliances. The matter was further complicated with since the death of King Rupert III in 1874. Prince Victor courted her much to the displeasure of the court of Veravania. Finally, Prince Victor agreed to ceded all ancient Veravanian land claims if he could be married to Princerina Carmela. Veravania rejected this romantic display as a farce and called for Prince Karlo Vera-Haspaat to assume the thrown as King of Veravania. Deutscheslavania accepted the offer and named Prince Victor King and granted him the House of Von Arthor. King Victor denounced his titles in Veravania and assumed the thrown of Deutscheslavania with full honor and support of the Deutscheslavanian court.
Archduke Arthur Von Arthor, cousin of the Princerina Carmela, was installed as Protector of the Thrown. King Victor's health declined after his coronation and he eventually died in 1896.
