Arthur Ventiliner was born to Albert and Sarah Ventiliner during a period of mass immigration form Riosland to Jamesterdavania’s east coast. Working as a ship builder and general-purpose nautical contractor, Albert Ventiliner eked out a meager existence for his wife and three children.
Arthur accompanied his father to the shipyards of New Croarke and later those of Stevensville where he developed an interest in shipbuilding. It was there that he was recruited, at an early age of 17, into the P.R. Danbury Shipping and Building Company. This company agreed to sponsor Ventiliner’s college years in return for ten years of work for the company.
Ventiliner chose to enter the Jamsterdavanian Naval Academy at Vanihalea, Jamesterdavania. Despite horrific hazing and a slew of false allegations against him, Ventiliner graduated with the Class of 1900 and was assigned as a lieutenant in the Design Corps of the Jamsterdavanian Navy.
In 1908, Lt. Commander Ventiliner was field promoted to Captain and given command of the J.S.S. Sidney C. Whitney, a minor battleship. Ventiliner watched as aircraft from the Dununder city of Portinton, sank the J.S.S. Oddeseana. He narrowly escaped the same fate and engaged the Deutscheslavanian battleship Kleberhorst, which he crippled and captured.
In 1912, Ventiliner became an Admiral and returned to the Design Corps, this time as its commanding officer. Admiral Ventiliner began work on the most ambitious class of Jamsterdavanian battleships to date. The Federal Republic Class battleship borrowed a great deal from the Deutscheslavanian Kleberhorst but incorporated a double hull armoring system of Ventiliner’s own design. The most striking design was for the Esse Class. These huge “floating cities” represented the culmination of everything Ventiliner had learned during the Second World Conflict.
The Esse Class later renamed the Ventiliner Class, provided maximum firepower and a full range of antiaircraft defenses. In addition, this class could launch torpedoes, drag anti-sub nets and lay mines. Work would not begin on this vessel until 1921 and it was not completed until 1935 due to almost constant upgrades.
The Esse Class was Ventiliner’s pet project. The Third World Conflict in 1919 interrupted work on the Esse Class. Ventiliner was given command of a large taskforce sent to blockade Northern Deutscheslavania. The resulting naval battle was named the Battle of Nordanis and is the largest naval sea battle in history. Ventiliner out maneuvered the Deutscheslavanian Navy and delivered a crippling blow to their northern defenses.
Admiral Ventiliner lived to see his project come to term and was at the christening of the J.S.S. Esse in 1935. Ventiliner even commanded the vessel from New Croarke to Carlone, Treyland in 1936.
Ventiliner died on November 14, 1938 of pneumonia, in gratitude the Jamsterdavanian Navy re-christened the J.S.S. Esse the J.S.S. Ventiliner. The J.S.S. Ventiliner and her sister ships, the J.S.S. MacDougan, J.S.S. Fearless and the J.S.S. Esse II, served well in the Fourth and Fifth World Conflicts. While the Fearless and the Esse II, were converted into aircraft carriers in he 1960’s, the Ventiliner and the MacDougan remain the World’s largest battleships.
