Southside Fire of 1858-
A massive fire ravaged West Coast City on July 4, 1858. The fire resulted from an insignificant explosion at a rail yard in the Barrio section of Southern West Coast City. 17 volunteer fire companies and the municipal fire departments of West Coast City and Santan City were unsuccessful in stopping the blaze from claiming row after row of wood framed homes.

The fire destroyed 79% of the city, including a Jamsterdavanian military post, Fort Carmine, a commercial dock and countless blocks of homes.

The fire resulted in the Fire Zoning Act of 1859, in which the Jamsterdavanian Parliament laid down a universal fire code.
