The Axis Empire is the name given to the political reorganization of the Republic of Elix in the 1970’s. Under the direction of High General Felix Quinon the kingdom was disbanded and reformed as the head commonwealth of a third Tufan Empire.
The Axis Empire adopted twin-lightening bolts against a blue background in a white trimmed triangle.
Felixland, Moxland, Fineland and Stefanfang joined together politically, economically and militarily. Veravania was initially asked to join, but rather remained only a close ally. The Axis Empire founded the New Celetree in 1975 used its plantations to rapidly revitalize the shattered economy.
In 1989, Veravanian King Frank Von Victor launched a major offensive against Deutscheslavania in an amazing surprise attack that routed the Deutscheslavanian Wehrmarcht. The Felisorians provided air support and helped in capturing the Deutscheslavanian capital of Tomcovy.
Jamsterdavania and its allies protested the invasion, but they were swayed from action by increased pressure from the Axis Empire. The Eighth World Conflict loomed as the Axis Empire threatened to invade Deutscheslavania in force. The Council of United Island condemned the Axis Empire. The Empire responded by walking out of the Council.
The Axis Empire armed for war rather quickly and massed troops along its borders with its neighbors. In 1991, a Jamsterdavanian taskforce approached the Moxlandian port city of Monquidu. It was attacked and the J.S.S. Tunacat, a pocket destroyer, was sunk.
The United Allies led a campaign against each of the Axis Commonwealths and the New Celetree. Fineland fell on November 10, 1992, Moxland was occupied on January 6, 1993, and Stefanfang surrendered on February 14, 1993.
Felixland was the last of the Axis counties to be defeated. A joint attack of Jamsterdavanian, Deutscheslavanians and Dannunifian troops fought a six-month battle of occupy the whole nation. Felixland surrendered Elix on August 24, 1993. The final Axis army surrendered on October 8, 1993 at Arrac.
The Axis nations were partitioned and placed under provisional governments. Felixland, which was totally in ruins, was reorganized and rebuilt with Council of United Island funds. General Gunter Palacios of Veravania was placed in charge of the former Felixland. The new nation was named in his honor. Fineland was placed in the control of Admiral John R. Rivers of Riosland. New Riosland was carved from portions of Fineland and Stefanfang.
Initially, there was much resistance to the imposed reforms. This period ended in 1999 as new national identities began to take hold.
