The Amsternational Party is also the oldest active political party in Amsterdavania, being descended from the Amsterdavania Coalition that held a significant majority in the Jamsterdavanian Parliament before the two nations split politically in the 1860’s. The party changed its name to the Confederationist Party before settling on a new organization in 1904.
Party membership slacked in the 1970’s as a growing domestic peace movement swept the nation. This movement reformed much of the Amsternational platform which led to Amsterdavanian isolationism in the 1980’s.
Amsternationalism regained its traditional momentum during the Eighth World Conflict, but didn’t recover the Amsterdavanian Presidency until 2003. (See Confederationists, Amsterdavanian Coalition)
