Acmedia, King Carlos-
Historians recall Carlos VI of Dannunifius as an able ruler and the last of the Acmedian Monarchs, but literature regards him as the “Heart Broken King.” John Davis Cooper popularized the life of Carlos VI, or Carlos Acmedia, in his 1938 film Rosa and the Broken King, but the life of the man was more tragic than any motion picture could have depicted.

Carlos Acmedia was born on September 30, 1770 to King Carlos V and Queen Isabella Marquette. He was raised in the company of several servant children, which Queen Isabella hoped would give him a happier childhood than she has. Carlos V strongly objected, but granted his wife’s request.

Prince Carlos excelled in the study of politics and mathematics and was soon being tutored by the Mathematician Horace Conley.

According to church records, Prince Carlos Acmedia was married to Rosella Marcos in 1786. Rosella Marcos was a common maid and servant that was reared with the Prince. Officials of the church site no reason the marriage was aloud to be preformed. Father Tomas Barriant, a Sacian priest, joined the two in holy matrimony.

King Carlos V ordered the marriage dissolved and nullified, but the Pope never signed articles of nullification.

The marriage had remained a secret until Prince Carlos was to marry a Trelandic noblewoman. The Prince refused to undergo the marriage citing Church rules that prevented polygamy and declaring his love for Rosella Marcos.

Stefan Donox Marcos was born shortly after this affair to Rosella Marcos. Rosella expelled from the palace and deposited in an isolated section of Sacia. She and her child were kept under guard for two years. Prince Carlos never had any knowledge of his child and was forced to marry the noblewoman.
